Visual and Performing Arts

Visual and Performing Arts are a cornerstone of school life at Harrow Appi Japan, giving every student the opportunity to perform and develop confidence, creativity, and expression. Students participate in House Singing, whole-school concerts, and a wide range of ensembles, projects, and individual tuition across Drama, Dance, and Music.

drama

The Drama programme offers regular weekly clubs alongside large-scale productions. Students can audition for the December musical, as well as smaller performances throughout the year. Performing Arts Club is open to all students, providing opportunities to develop stagecraft, teamwork, and expressive skills.

MUSIC

Harrow Appi’s Music programme features established ensembles and groups suitable for both beginners and advanced musicians. Major ensembles rehearse in the evenings, while smaller groups may meet during Co-Curricular Activities or on an ad hoc basis. Through these opportunities, students develop musicianship, collaboration, and performance skills, culminating in concerts for both internal and external audiences. The music department leads a number of trips to concerts in Morioka and beyond through the year including playing at the annual Sendai Jazz Festival.

Dance

Dance Club meets weekly and explores a variety of styles. Students perform both as part of the full ensemble and in smaller groups, developing creativity, coordination, and confidence in performance. The Dance Team perform at a number of festivals and events in the locality throughout the year.

Through Drama, Dance, and Music, students gain confidence, creativity, and a sense of achievement, while contributing to the vibrant cultural life of the school.
